What Is A Bonsai?

Bonsai is a Japanese art form that consists of growing and shaping small, ornamental trees to create miniature scenes from nature. The word Bonsai translates to “potted tree” and includes a wide variety of tree species. Though it is very popular in Japan, it originated from the Chinese art form Penjing.

With proper care, Bonsai trees can live for hundreds of years and are often passed down through generations as a valuable family treasure. Their ability to survive for so long is a great reminder of nature’s enduring spirit. Bonsai trees are also a beautiful representation of harmony, balance, patience, and tranquility. Some use the trees as ornaments of interior design while others use them as objects to assist in meditation and contemplation.

These trees are kept in beautiful pots crafted specifically for Bonsai. These pots typically come with holes in the bottom and a tray underneath the pot to allow for proper drainage when watering.

Bonsai’s have brought us much joy and peace as we spend time creating them, caring for them and shaping them. We hope you will join us as you begin your own bonsai journey!
